Several documents from the first half of the 16th century tell us about the frequent disappearance of young handsome boys in the southern part of the Black Forest. Most of them sooner or later seemed to have returned to their homes, but were unable or reluctant to tell of their whereabouts. This strange phenomenon obviously was connected to a mysterious woman called AvA, which must have been an acronym for Alla von Achtung.
Finally a search posse combed through the Black Forest. They found a clearing deep in the forest with a small hut on it. Attached to the hut was something we understand could have been an early version of a greenhouse.
In front of the hut were around 90 young men of rather splendid looks queued up. They were obviously very expectant of things to come.
This is highly remarkable given the fact that the whole population of the Black Forest definitely did not exceed 50.000 people in those days and even the largest settlements did not have more than 1000 inhabitants.
The young men were babbling gibberish, in which only the words “Thai Kratom,” “Kratom Hut” and “lust” were identifiable.
About once per hour, day as night and without interruption, the door of the Kratom Hut opened. In the frame could be always be seen the same picture: an old and unseemly hag, releasing a handsome boy back into the forest and taking in the first one from the queue.
The released boys were obviously in best health, totally euphorized, but equally exhausted.
Nor further details were reported from the search posse, but it seems that “Kratom Hut,” “lust” and “Thai Kratom” were key words to alert the Holy Inquisition.
